To assist manage severe acne, metox pills (also known as methotsalen tablets) have been used in conjunction with regulated ultraviolet radiation (UV). It may also be used to treat vitiligo and cutaneous T-cell lymphoma (CTCL), among other skin conditions. Methoxsalen tablets work by making the skin more vulnerable to ultraviolet light.

Metox tablets (Methoxsalen tablets) belong to the class of drugs known as psoralens. Metox (Methoxsalen) is used in a PUVA therapy with ultraviolet radiation (found in sunshine and some specific lamps) to treat vitiligo, a disease in which skin pigment is lost, and psoriasis, a skin disorder characterized by red and scaly areas. Metox (Methoxsalen) is also utilized in the therapy of white blood cells in conjunction with UV radiation. Photopheresis is a therapy that is used to treat the skin issues associated with mycosis fungoides, a form of lymphoma.
